ARRIVAL: Upon entering the farm, you'll first stop at the farm store window to get a picking map, pay admission, and either purchase containers or have your own weighed. The map tells you what's ready for picking, prices, rules and where to find everything. If you arrive with any produce from another farm inside your vehicle, please inform us before entering our orchard. We will hold it for you inside the store while you pick, otherwise you'll be charged for it at checkout.

CONTAINERS: We recommend bringing your own containers and/or bags for picking, but we have several sizes of containers and reusable bags available for purchase at the check-in window. When checking in, please have the cashier weigh your containers so we can subtract that weight from what you pick.

DRIVING: You will drive your own vehicle into the orchard. Some of the roads can be bumpy, muddy and uneven. Park near your desired picking area and walk into the fields. Please use common sense to avoid driving and walking over living plants. Speed limit is 10 mph. Farm vehicles and pedestrians always have the right of way.

PICKING: All produce is priced per pound and can be found on the picking map. We ask that you please only pick what you intend to pay for, and please do not pick anything NOT listed on the map, as those items still need time to grow. Anything picked that is not listed will be charged up to $10/lb.

CHECK OUT: You'll stop at the farm store to pay for what you've picked. Pickings will be weighed by a cashier and paid for inside the farm store. You'll find additional produce and farm treats for sale in our store, including homemade hard ice cream and apple cider donuts! All vehicles & bags will be manually inspected before leaving.

PAYMENT: We accept cash and all major credit cards. We do not accept personal checks or food stamps.

The entrance to PYO closes at 4:00pm. All fields must be cleared and guests checked out by 5pm.
All PYO produce is priced per pound. Prices may fluctuate throughout the season.
All bags & vehicles will be fully inspected at checkout. (This is why). Unfortunately, produce theft is a major issue.
Produce availability changes frequently. Check the picking map to see what's currently available before picking. Any unlisted items that are picked will be charged $10/lb.
Stay hydrated! We recommend bringing water, or you can purchase it in our store, as well as homemade apple cider and other beverages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is your farm organic?

A: No, it's not organic. We have a small area outside of our PYO farm where we're growing organic apple trees, but for the majority of our farm we follow low-spray & IPM* practices.

*Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is the management of agricultural and horticultural pests that minimizes the use of chemicals and emphasizes natural and low-toxicity methods (such as the use of crop rotation and beneficial predatory insects). The goal of IPM is not necessarily to eradicate or eliminate pests, but to strengthen and stabilize the landscape (ecosystem) so that conditions are favorable for plants but unfavorable for pests.

Q: Should I wash my produce before I eat it?

A: Yes. This is always a good practice, no matter where you get your produce from! Please remember you must also pay for all produce before eating it.

Q: Can I bring my dog?

A: Due to federal health & safety regulations, pets are not allowed on our farm.

Q: Can we have a picnic?

A: No, picnics & BBQs are not permitted. Once you checkout and pay for your produce, you're welcome to park and use our picnic tables near the farm store.

Q: Do you have bathrooms?

A: Yes. We have two bathrooms available inside our farm store, as well as several porta potties throughout the orchard.

Q: Do you offer hayrides?

A: No, we do not offer hayrides at this time.

Q: Do you accept credit cards?

A: Yes, we accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as cash. We do not accept personal checks, EBT, or farmers market nutrition program coupons.

Release of Liability

Samascott Orchards is an active farming operation; all guests enter at their own risk. As a condition of being permitted to enter the property all guests hereby RELEASE, WAIVE AND DISCHARGE the Owners and Staff from any and all liability, claims, demands or causes of action now and hereafter for any and all injuries to his or her person or property and for damages including but not limited to those injuries or damages caused by negligence of the Owners and Staff.
